Massachusetts: a tenant here is writing letters to himself as if they were from the property manager. he then forwards these letters to his attorney to prove harassment. I would like to evict but don't know what grounds...slander, libel, nuisance. He is prepared to file civil suit because i did not stop a conflict with another tenant and him. He has been here for five years, complains about everything. has moved three different times and claims discrimination for sexual preference. no one cares!

Obviously, this guy is dangerous and you should get rid of him as soon as possible. But I can't advise you how.

I would myself get an attorney for this one. This has to be handled carefully and in full compliance with both federal and Mass law, also with an eye on defending against a discrimination suit. I would think an attorney would be well worth the money. If he keeps you out of trouble, your costs will not be so great.

By the way, you do have insurance that would cover you in a case like this, don't you? The insurance would provide a lawyer and a defense for you, in the case that you are sued. Actually, if you contact your insurance company, they may be willing to provide you with an attorney even before you get sued, as a preventative measure. It would sure make good business sense for them to do so.
