What is the name of your state? IN
I worked for a non-profit organization. I have not seen eye-to-eye on several matters with our new Executive Director. She picks and chooses which policies she wants to follow in the employee handbook. She also does not write up other employees that violate the same rules she said I violated. Today she fired me.

She said it was because I violated policies of the Employee Handbook but in the next breath she admitted to me that she did not have a copy of the Employee Handbook. I told her that I did and one or the statements in the Employee Handbook says "(All terminations will be reviewed by the Board of Directors prior to issuance)". She told me that the President of the Board said she could do whatever she wanted to do with me.

Did she not violate a policy when she did not take my firing before the Board of Directors for review? What recource do I have? The EMployee Handbook says I can file an appeal before the Board but since they pick which policies they want to follow, can I force that issue?
Thanks.

You can do nothing about it. The board can if they choose but they are not obligated to.

Further Problem

So basically I am at the mercy of the Board. Since they are a non-profit Board, can I report them to some State Agency for investigation?

Thanks.

No. They have not violated any laws. No regulatory agency is going to be interested in an internal squabble, which is all this boils down to in the overall scheme of things.
