What is the name of your state? CA

My husband has been relocated to Oklahoma for work and we currently live in California. Is the relocation an acceptable reason to terminate my lease? I have a one year lease and have lived there for 5 months. I've tried to find the lease laws on line and could not find anything that I was looking for.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Relocation is not a legal reason to break your lease.

Read your lease to see if there is an early termination clause.

Basically, you will be liable for rent until the apartment is rerented, as well as any costs the LL may incur (advertising costs, agent fees, etc) due to your breach.

You can try to negotiate a lease buyout with the LL. You may have to pay a an agreed upon amount upfront, but it will be over and done with. If you can negotiate a buyout, get it in writing.

**A: the answer is no unless the relocation is due to active military orders.
