Terminating Child Support

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Massachusetts

I'm the non-custodial parent of soon-to-be adults. Just for an example, let's say my obligation to pay support ends on June 1. Do I have to wait until June 1 to file the paperwork terminating my support payments or can I file it now to ensure that there is a court order in place for when June 1 arrives?

The reason I ask is that I was told that my ex cannot be forced to re-pay any support she receives after June 1 while we wait for a court date.

Thank you.

No, you do not have to wait until June 1. You can start the process a few months ahead of time. Now might be a little too early.
