What is the name of your state? Oregon

Is it possible for a guy who got someone pregnant to terminate his parental rights to where he doesn't owe child support and would have no legal obligation to the child whatsoever? I have heard of people doing this -- what is the procedure?

Voluntary termination of parental rights does NOT relieve you of child support obligations.

Judges will not relieve a man from child support just because he wants nothing to do with a child he concieved. A mother might not sue for child support, but if at any time she changes her mind, or goes on state aid, he can be made to pay it anyway.

All termination will do is take any rights he has away to have a say in the upbringing or visitation of his child.

IF there is a step parent willing to adopt the child, then a man may voluntarily give up his rights and be relieved of support.
