My employer is terminating me and offering a package. Conditions of the package require me to waive any future legal action against the company as a result of the termination. Also it requires I make no "disparaging comments" about the company after I leave. Am I giving up my rights of due process and free speech to get the termination bonus?

My response:

Well, you've got to ask yourself . . . "Is there something that my former company did to me that is against the law?" Next, ask yourself, "Do I need to talk about my former company at all - good or bad?"

If your answers to both questions are, "No" then go ahead and sign.
