I leased a house in Louisiana and had been living there for 3 weeks when a large termite nest was discovered in one of the bedrooms. Exterminators came right away but could not treat for 5 days. I was supposed to be moving the rest of my furniture in during this period but the termites swarmed by the thousands - twice. Then they nested in another room on the opposite side of house. Treatment takes 30 days. The landlord is unwilling to adjust my rent even though I don't have access to these rooms and I have to pay additional storage fees for my furniture. More importantly however is he refuses to treat the whole house. It is very probable that this will happen again. Can I terminate my lease? Does Louisiana considered this uninhabitable? He will treat but only when the next nest is found. I don't want to go through the mess or stress of this again. Please help!
