a girl i used to work with flipped out and accused another manager and I of talking about her behind her back. She screamed and yelled and finally walked out. After quitting, for reasons unknown to me, she singled me out to hate. She told more than five employee's, at differant times, that she was going to kill me with her bare hands and run me over with her car. I filed a terroretic threatening charge against her. I wake up this morning to find a note left on my door from the sherff's office saying "attempted to serve civil papers". Why? Do I need a lawyer or just go get the papers and ride it out?

Thank you.

It is not possible for us to advise you about possible actions when you clearly have no idea about what 'civil papers' service was attempted.

subpoena

Actually, I picked the papers up this morning and it's a subpoena to appear in court.

Thank you.

What is the subpoena for???
Are you being ordered to court as a witness in a proceeding??
Are you being ordered to court to respond to a summons?
Are you being ordered to court to present papers?

What exactly does the summons say or order??

The subpoena says "To testify on behalf of the Commonwealth of Kentucky at a PRE-TRIAL re: Terroristic Threatening (5 counts)."
Word for word....

From your posts, it appears that you are being ordered to appear in court to testify AGAINST the person you filed charges on... in a pre-trial proceeding to determine about the specific claims made against her.

Yes. That is how the sheriff explained it to me. But my question is, should I hire a lawyer to go with me and if so, what KIND of lawyer? I am so lost when it comes to legal terms... after all I'm a manager for a fast food restaraunt...lol Also, I thought you may find this interesting... I have the video tape of her screaming , cussing and generally making an ass of herself from the day she walked out. You can plainly see that no one was "bothering" her or talking about her behind her back. Everyone was working but her. Should I take the video with me or not?

Thank you,

Kami

p.s. you have been a GREAT help and I truely appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions.
