What is the name of your state? Texas
Is child support automatically stopped when the child turns 18 (or graduates from high school) , or do you need to file to have it stopped?
Thank you....

You should file unless the current court order specifically states that the support shall automatically cease on the child's 18th Birthday or graduation from high school.

Unless support is being garnished or is otherwise being collected through the AG. In that case you really need to file because the AG doesn't know when the child graduates from high school.

It says the cs should stop on June 1st in the most current papers, but it is garnished from his check. It probably wouldn't hurt to contact them, although it is very difficult to get a live person. She turns 18 in April and graduates in May.

Suggestion: Make an appointment, go in person (Dad). Ask for a copy of the order to cease garnishment that they send to Dad's employer. Call Dad's payroll administer in May to make sure they got/are aware of the order.

It's September, so if you call or head down there NOW, you might actually get to speak to a real live human being by May if you're lucky.;)
