my husband rented an apartment before we were married. once married and i moved in we had problems with the landlord. the lease was to be from january 1999- january 2000. in june there was a bank glitch and the rent check bounced and was paid with a cashier's check. the following 2 months were paid by regular check. in september they entered the apartment with no notice, setting off the alarm and causing problems to post an eviction notice on the back of the door. the eviction stated that we were being evicted for not paying with a cashier's check or money order. in the lease it did not state anywhere that we had to pay with a cashier's check or money order. we moved out in october becuase they served us with the eviction notice. we have just had a judgement filed against us for the rent due from the remaining months on the lease. if we were evicted then why would we have to pay that rent? we were uner the impression that we wouldn't have to pay rent if evicted, especially for such a ridiculous reason that was not in the lease.
