What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

I used to post here quite a bit, I was confused about some legal and personal problems and I always got good (even if it was sometimes kind of harsh) :D advice.

I just wanted to say thanks. I lost custody of my daughter years ago, and my mother had guardianship for a long time. Over the summer, my mother moved to North Carolina. Before she moved, she petitioned the court to "fix guardianship outside of California". I posted on here worried about what to do and I was told to go to court and fight it. I did. It was a long summer filled with court date after court date and even an investigator coming out to my house to interview my family and check out our living situation.

In August my daughter's guardianship was dissolved. I have full physical and legal custody of her. It is so wonderful having my whole family together!

I know I would have been scared and worried about my past, and I probably would not have gone against my mother in court without encouragement. Thank you.

Oh summerdawn, I have been thining about you a lot lately. I have wondered how you and your family has been doing. I followed your story a lot....learned a lot as well. I am so happy for you! It had to be a great holiday for you to have your family together like that. Congrats.

How is everything with the littlest one's dad and his wife. If I remember correctly she was causing another stink and had even gotten her mother to call and harrass you. Hope that has slowed down as well Would love to hear an update about them as well.

Again, congrats on getting your daughter back into your fold.

Hi, Tornado. Thank you for your kind words.

Our family is doing really well. We had a wonderful holiday season this year, with all of the kids together!

The younger children are still visiting with their father, they go every other weekend now for the day on Saturday and again for the day on Sunday. He and I do not communicate at all anymore. I do send an occasional email to get a message to him but I am quite sure it is still stepmom doing all of the communication. I was told at mediation to "take what I can get" so I have not made a further issue of it. I haven't had any big problems with stepmom in recent months, she has sent me an angry note or two but I don't answer them so it doesn't become an issue. Father will be going to court soon to ask for overnight visits for his weekends because he moved about 45 minutes to an hour away from us. He has stopped taking his weekday visit due to distance and job schedule conflicts.

I do have a couple of things I need to ask the court to enforce on our court order, but they are not big things and I don't see them causing a whole lot of trouble. I am actually really thinking over the couple of issues that I want to have enforced/modified so that I will be very careful of what I try to take into court, and not ask for any petty/frivolous things or waste the judge's (or my) time.

I've learned not to take things so seriously and to not get in such a snit over things having to do with father/stepmother, and I think it has helped a lot. :p
