What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida

My daughter and her husband purchased a vehicle and cannot get it titled due to a name mismatch on the printed and signature of the title. They have been trying for 3 weeks to get it resolved with the person that sold them the vehicle.

The seller was selling the car for someone else and gave them a receipt for purchase that was signed in the owners name by someone other than the owner. He is basically shutting down and not working to resolve the issue. Ths is a young family with 2 infant children and they are doing their best to make it and someone does this to them.:mad: I am 3 hrs away and they haven't requested me to get involved with the seller yet...

Any advice will be greatly appreciated..

Thank You..

Why do you think you might and/or should get "involved" with the seller? I would suggest that you let them resolve this themselves - that's how they learn (really!). If you want to help fund their quest to get this straightened out (as a loan to them would be best), then have at it, but you should not be "involved" in any additional way.

I am not looking to get involved, just put that out there to state that I am not in communication with the seller.
I am just looking to see whattheir options may be in their situation to hel with the stress level, that's all. We taught our kids to stand on their own and they do for the most part. it is just a lil difficult to see them try and get duped like this.

Just want to know if there is an option through legal/courts that I can advise them to seek.

Thanks,

If I am understanding your daughter's situation correctly, she and her husband purchased a vehicle from someone they knew did not own the vehicle, and the seller and your daughter/husband did not go together to the DMV to get the title transferred from the owner's name into the name of your daughter/husband?

If this is correct, a lot of red flags were ignored and a lot of mistakes were made.

I think your daughter/her husband should check first to make sure the car in their possession is not a stolen vehicle.

someone does this to them.
No, they did it themselves for not using common sense in buying a car.

Fortunately, Florida allows the posting of a bond to get title when there is a title issue so there is a possibility that they can do that.

Have your daughter print this form out and take it to the dmv and see if they qualify to do it.

If they are eligible for a bonded title they will be given further instructions.
