I was arrested yesterday for Teft by Deception steming in 1997. I have no idea what it is about. I am really freaked out. There are 2 charges and I was arrested on a bench warrant. What is Theft by Deception and what is a bench warrant? How can I get help with this. Could they have arrested the wrong person?

A bench warrant is one issued by a judge from the bench.

Theft by deception is a name of a crime in which a person acted deceptively (such as pretended to be someone else) or gave false information (applied fopr credit with a phony history) to get someone to part with property they would not have parted with if there had been no deception.

This is a serious matter and you should have a lawyer. If you canm't afford one the court will appoint a defense attorney for you. If you can, check out attorneypages.com.
