Ok... MY Boyfriend is now 22, when he was 18 he was really having alot of family issues and was kicked out of his house and a highschool drop out. He worked at a gas station in NJ and the last night he worked there he stole about $1,000. He then moved to a different state, where he met me, and really turned his life around. He has a steady job and works over 50 hours every week, pays all of his bills, has never been in trouble in the past 4 or 5 years. He also got his GED and is planning on going to college soon. He felt like what he did in NJ is holding him back, and feels bad about it, so he turned himself in and has a court date in 2 weeks for the charges. Since he is turning himself in 4 years later and has turned his life around and has about $500 to pay off the debt, do you think they'll throw him in jail, or do you think they'll sort of "go easy on him" and set up a payment system where if he doesn't pay off the rest of the money within in a certain number off months, THEN he'll go to jail? He has never gotten theft charges before.... we are both really scared. Thanks...
