The parishioners of our parish are having a problem with the priest using parish money for himself and his family's expenses over the past several years. He has sole control of the monies as so dictated by the Diocese. He has openly told me that money is being "skimed" before it's reported to the Diocese. This may be a known practice amongst other priest's. He draws a salary which is separate from this issue. I have spoken the District Attorney in our county and he told me to file a report with the State Police. I did so in March '06. The investigating Trooper told me that someone from the Criminal Investigation Unit would be in touch with me. I've called the State Police three times leaving messages for the investigating Trooper on the ststus on the case. There were no return calls. We have written to the Bishop and Vicar on these problems and other financial inaccuracies. The Vicar told us "it's being investigated". That was two months ago. We feel like we're getting stonewalled. We don't know who to turn to next for answers, the Attorney General's Office or what? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
