My wife and I will be filing bankruptcy this summer. We are behind on credit card payments.

At least one credit card company is calling my work and asking to speak to my wife. My wife has never worked there. The calls are occuring several times every day. The secretaries are getting annoyed by all of the phone calls and my boss even mentioned them to me.

What can I do to get them to quit calling my workplace?

Simple - send them a cease and desist letter telling them that you are not allowed personal calls at work, that your wife does not work for the same employer and they are to cease all phone calls and contact you by MAIL ONLY.

If this is an original creditor they can get away with murder, the FDCPA doesn't apply to them, but to call your wife where YOU work is ludicrous. Most creditors WILL stop calling you at work once you tell them your employer doesn't allow personal calls - if they cause you to lose your job then how would they get paid ???? Your secretaries need to tell them your wife is NOT an employee and HANG UP on them ! They could also file a complaint with the phone company.
