What is the name of your state? VT I received a 1099-misc from my brother whom bought out my mom and other partners. I never earned any money from the business, nor did I get paid any money. His accountant does not like me at all and spreads lies about me. I have been helping my mom deal with the stresses and issues caused by the two of them by helping her find an attorney, volunteering a couple of days to help her keep the business going. I did not receive a dime from her and did not want any compensation. Now here it is march 3 and I received a 1099-misc (non-employee compensation) for over 4000.00. My hubby is going through the roof as we finished our taxes in January and now this mess. When my mom called the person who did the taxes for the owner (my brother) of the business she claimed she did not know what they were for only that she did what he asked of her. She claimed the owner assumed I was paid and told her to send a 1099misc to me for that amount. Again, I did not get paid 10 cents for me helping her. What can I do???? faith
