I live in New York State and my sister and I were involved in a car accident November 4th, 2000. We have both been under therapy for our injuries and have been told that we should both recover fully by July of this year as long as we attend our therapy sessions regularly (usually twice a week).
The problem is this; my sister's supervisor called her into her office yesterday and told her that the company can't afford for her to leave an hour early twice a week to attend therapy sessions and that if she can't change her therapy sessions to once a week or eliminate them from interrupting her work schedule then they will find someone to replace her.
My sister's never had any problems at work; in fact she just got her year review and was told that she is doing an excellent job and even received a raise. Can they legally force her to stop therapy or fire her?? What about her personal recovery? What happens if she doesn't finish therapy and her injuries force her to quit working; Can she legally sue her company for them forcing her to leave therapy, especially if she doesn't recover due to the lack of therapy?
