What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? VA

Ok I will get straight to the point. I got into a fight with a girl I work with but it was outside of work. My manager asked me what is was about and I told her that it was a personal matter and had nothing to do with work but she threatened my job so I told her a little but still told her I didnt want to go into too much detail seeing as it was not work related and my own personal business.

Well then I get this email stating that she is going to be kind and let me go with a warning but she could have terminated me for this and if something happens inside or even outside of work again I can be fired immediately.

Can what I do outside of work really get me fired?

You are an at will employee. They can fire you for anything they want, including wearing black socks on Tuesday. Maybe they don't want someone who can be associated with their business working for them who is known to be violent and lack self control? Maybe they decided that they don't want the potential liability when you decide to lose it again, but this time it is within their business.

If you are so immature that you have to result to FIGHTING to settle a dispute, then maybe they decided that they want someone working for them that has better conflict resolution techniques. Your screen name is "youngmom." I hope that has some other meaning other than you are the mother of a child, because if you are a mother and are still fighting, then God help your child and how you are going to bring that child up.

Ok let me word that better than... it was not a fist fight...it was more like a verbal altercation. I have controll, however, there are certain things that really get me heated such as people like you who have nothing better to do than judge someone on a online forum.

Thanks for the answers.
