What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Colorado. Hello, my question is: My son and his buddies were in the school hallway last Friday. It was 730am and they were making noises and running into eachother (2more boys). The teacher who my son has had issues with before, suddenly turns around to face them and says that my son was pointing his finger at her like he was shooting her! She said that was a threat. well, here we are today Tues. and the asst. principal calls my house, no message and then my cellphone with message. She said nothing about my son getting a ticket. She simply said, please call me I need to discuss with you what your son was involved in last week, please call this afternoon. Mind you, he has already been interrogated by teacher, asst. principal and school officer. His friends or as they call it "witnessess" were interrogated as well. I was not notified of a ticket until the principal called me back and said he was suspended 3 days and got a ticket, which is for (2) Harrassment??? Really? If the teacher felt so threatened why did she wait until the next week??? Shouldn't I have been there with him when he was talked to by the officer AND signing a legal document????? I have requested to speak with asst. principal, teacher "harrassed." I have spoke with all three boys and they all say that it was made like they were tyrying to get them to tell on my son.

I cannot find anything in CO law that requires the police or the school to call you before they speak to a minor.

It may very well be possible that your son and his friends are guilty in this, so I encourage you to enter this with an open mind. No parent should EVER begin a sentence with: "My child would never ..." Kids can do stupid things. And then they might lie about it to protect themselves.

You can appeal the suspension through the administrative channels at the school and/or district.
