What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Los Angeles, CA

I was parked in a metered space, the front bumper of my car was even with the meter (if it is past the meter they will ticket you for parking in two spaces!). The rear of my car overhung a faded red zone (behind me was a large entrance to a parking lot. I did not know it was red, didnt look because I assumed the space was big enough for my full sized car. Is there a CA law the determines the minimum length of a parking space? I feel the city is placing the parking spaces too close together (to increase the number of meters) and to get a second benif of being able to ticket large vehicals and P/U trucks
