My divorce has been final for 22 years. My ex is in arrears in child support to the tune of around $50,000. In the divorce I was given the house free and clear because he never showed up for the hearing (he never believed I would divorce him) He is threatening me with taking me back to court to recoup on the house if I press for the back child support. Can he do this??

My response:

Sure, he can. However, it would be really foolhardy for him to do so. Once the court finds out he's in "contempt of court", it's off to jail he goes. Tell him to bring a toothbrush, a change of underwear, and some KY Jelly.

Oh, and by the way, because he failed to appear at the original hearing, he has no lawful grounds to get any part of the house. The time for making such a claim would have been at that first hearing. Now, the matter is "Res Judicata".

Go get your money, and watch as the judge and bailiff give him his own pair of matching bracelets.
