What is the name of your state? tn
After paying our last payment to these loansharks we went back in to make an additional payment. We asked if this payment would come off the principle thus reducing the interest on the next payment. They said yes. After getting home I looked at the reciept and they had taken the payment off the next scheduled payment, not the principle. Called them back and was talked to like I was stupid and hung up. Can they do this? If they can then the only way to get out of this is to pay payments for the next two years, most of which are interest, or to pay off the entire amount which we dont have. Any advice with this trap is greatly appreciated.

What does your contract with these people say? Does the loan even allow for the prepayment of principle? Don't take anyone's word for it -- read what you signed.

screwed

Tilte clearly states you can walk in and pay on the principle. Legal Aid does not even advise on title loans. Talked to an attorney on the phone and he told me I could take them to court but it would cost me more than the loan. These people have been rude and threatening and dishonest and I guess its because they can. We even went to another office to make our payment and were told we had to go to the original office and put up with them. Tried to mail the payment in and never got a receipt. Still had to go in and be talked to like idiots. Just no escape. No one protects consumers from these bloodsuckers.

You could try contacting your state's attorney general's office, they may be able to help you. Is there any way you can pay the loan off in full? If you could, you could then sue for interest paid on principle that is no longer owed, and you could do it in small claims court if the amount was low enough.

Titleloan war rages

Cant pay off entire loan yet and was told we could not pay on the principle until our scheduled payment date. We were told yesterday that since we did not make the last payment on the due date (7/2/06) that we could not make a payment at all. When we called the district manager and told him we were walking out the door and going down to the state attorney he said he would get it straight. We will see. I did find out today that I can go down and picket in front of their office without a permit as long as I follow a few rules. I may be about to get my 15 minutes of fame.
Thanks for advice about da.
