What is the name of your state? California

Okay so here is the deal. I had this tl for UNVL/Citi on a 2002 credit report through Transunion. Well the past year or so it has simply disappeared. Now my clearance is in jeopardy and I have to answer for some past debts. This is one of them, although it is gone and have never been contacted by anyone and there is no collection agencies after me so I need to know how to answer them. I can't just leave it alone. Thanks

If this debt is gone from your TU report, was that the ONLY bureau it was being reported to ? There's no telling why its gone, but there's also a real good chance that it will come back. Many people have reported strange disappearances on their TU reports lately, no one seems to know what's going on, but some have since reported that the tradelines have reappeared.

It hasn't been on any of my reports over the last year. They only pulled TU back in 2002 so I dont know if it was on any of the other ones. But I dont remember who its for. I looked up UNVL/Citi with no real answers. I have to answer for this debt as back than I acknowledged it as mine to the people who grant security clearances. I dont know what to do. Have never once received anything in the mail, even from a CA or a phone call. But I do need to answer as to why its there.

UNVL/Citi is most likely the AT&T Universal card and its backed by Citibank. Did you ever have one of those ??

The clearance folks are going by a 2 year old credit report ?? That's insane.

AT&T universal card does sound familiar. ABout the two year old credit report, get this, they checked it again a few months back and at the end of the investigation it says nothing about the UNVL/Citi, only about a couple of derogs on my report cause I paid them off during 2003. Should I contacting AT&T Universal Card?? I just dont want it to appear back up. I just dont understand how it fell off, being I'm not sure if it was on all three reports. Thanks for your help!

Also, if its like my other accounts that I was paying through CCCS back in 99/00, my dola would be may of 2000 so would being my SOL has passed make any difference if I were to call them?

Yes SOL would be up.

You can certainly try calling Citi about the account. The 2002 credit report should have at least a partial account number. Find out if they have any records of you ever having a Universal card. If they say 'no' - get it in writing !! 70% of all credit reports contain errors, so the odds are on your side if this WAS an error in 2002.
