I am originally from TN and my ex mother in law went through a similar situation. She has Lupus and is on disability. Her ex husband made about $35000 per year. In lieu of any money, he gave her the house to do with what she pleased and also had to pay off her car (about $3000). It was contested and went to court - she wanted more he wanted to give her less. This is what the judge ordered. AT the time the house was probably worth about $55000 and she owed about $20000 on it. Hope this give you a little help! In Virginia, there is a set scale for child support and alimony, but I do not think that there is one in Tennessee. Mostly it is judged by what each party takes out of the marriage, owes, and has for income of any type.
