You locked your thread so I'm reposting it.

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

My husband was terminated for "disregard of ethics policy" and "conduct unbecoming", yet employer produced no backup for charges. Does he have a right to see the justification for this claim?

No. No employer in any State has to justify to the employee the reason for terminating his or her employment.

He needs to file for unemployment benefits and an inquiry will be made by the sytem to his employer. They would have to give much more specific information about the reason for the termination than "conduct unbecoming" or "disregard of the ethics policy" to show they had a valid misconduct reason to terminate him. If not, he would be able to get unemployment insurance benefits, otherwise eligible, and at least he would have some very good idea what they are claiming he has done and how much proof they have of it once he had been through the unemployment insurance appeals process with them.

Honestly, he doesn't have a clue? Interesting.
