Total loss claim advice plz

Mississippi here, total loss claim with state farm, they have the vehicle and I have signed the paperwork for transfer, but won't send payout without title which is still processing at the DMV with a suggested long wait time 3 months possibly...Should I get a lawyer to help get my claim payout faster?

Why do you need to get the certificate of title from the DMV?

Regardless, I can't think of any reason why a lawyer would be able to accelerate the process of obtaining a title from the DMV.

The accident happened a couple weeks after I got my tag, so I am still waiting on the title to come in the mail, it's been 2 months I've been waiting on this title now cause our title bureau is a bunch of idiots who don't know what they are doing and keep missing titles when they are scanning them in the system, there are people who have been waiting 3 to 6 months on their car titles recently...and state farm won't release my claim payout until they receive the title but they already have my car and the power of attorney title transfer paperwork, I need to get another ride ASAP for work but am out of ideas on how to get the DMV to process my title any faster .

Sorry, SF is not giving away money without the title. And rightfully so. No lawyer is going to change that.

See if one of your state legislators or representatives can intervene for you.

My suggestion would be to take the money you'd have to pay a lawyer and use it to rent a car.

Or put a down payment on another car and then pay it off when you get the money from SF.

Unfortunately a lawyer would probably not be able to speed up the DMV process for you.

Several of the southern states agencies, such as the DMV outsourced their printing and the waits for things like STAR driver's licenses and car titles have become truly ridiculous.
