My Boyfriend was given a gift of 20,000 by his mom's boyfriend over 1 year ago. Gifter passes away son has known about the money all this time. after his father passes he wants to 1099 my boyfriend under false pretenses to lessen his liability. my boyfriend wouldn't go for it. now the son is saying that the gift is fishy. he actually had detectives call my boyfriend and his mom down for questioning, handwriting analsys, etc. my boyfriend's mom has written checks for the gifter for years, but never signed the checks. many people know that the deceased gave my boyfriend the money, because my boyfriend and his mother took care of the deceased for years, his son was never around except to get money. the son is the exector for the estate. gift was given before deceased got sick and before the will was written up. how can the son do this? this is slander, he's lying and my boyfriend and his mom are being treated like criminals. the dectives are going to the bank to see if the teller remembers seeing the deceased and my boyfriend at the time the money was put into the bank. My boyfriend stills has the money. the dectives even asked if he would consider giving the money back. This is the most unbelievable crap I have ever heard please help.
