Hello,

I am an American citizen living in Barranquilla, Colombia and my wife, who is a Colombian citizen, and I would like to visit the U.S. Currently my wife does not have a Visa and since we are not planning to live in the U.S. in the foreseeable future I was wondering if anyone knows if it would be acceptable for her to apply for a regular tourist visa? Does anyone know what is involved in the process? Thanks in advance for any information.

She can apply for the visitor's visa at the US Consulate in Bogota, but it is likely that she will be refused the visa because of her marriage to a US citizen. Unless she can overcome the presumption of immigrant intent and provide sufficient documentation of her significant ties to Colombia and that she has no intentions of immigrating to the US, she will likely not be issued a visitor's visa.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or need further assistance with this matter.
