I driver for Uber. I stopped on Sutter street downtown San Francisco to pick up a passenger. And I stopped for too long. I didn't realize an SFPD car was behing me. The officer was honking at me as I had blocked him. They were really pissed off with me. And when I started moving, the light turned yellow and I stopped again. I was expecting the officer to pull me over. But he didn't. After the light turned green, I turned my blinders on and pulled over the side after crossing the intersection, and then waited for the officers. The officer passed by me and told me that I can't stop in the middle of street like that, and that I will get a ticket in the mail. My question is, what kind of ticket should I expect in the mail? Will that ticket carry any points, or will it have only a fine on it? I am really disturbed right now, as I don't want any point on my license. And why didn't the officer pull me over, and instead chose to send me a ticket in the mail? The fact that he didn't pull me over is giving me some hopes. Can somebody please answer my question and give me some relief. Looking forward to your replies. Thank you so much.

Nobody can give you relief.

You need to learn the rules of the road - that'll help you avoid getting traffic tickets. Considering that you all should consider yourselves professional drivers, taxi/for-hire vehicle drivers are the worst.

I'm guessing that the officer didn't have time to deal with you and he just wanted to get you nervous by telling you to expect a mailed ticket. Looks like he succeeded.

By the way, it's never a good idea to put blinders on when you're behind the wheel.

Yeah ... you're not getting a ticket in the mail. Learn from this - do not stop where you should not.

Sorry, I meant blinkers. I turned my blinkers on and pulled over to the side of the street. Thank you for your replies. And I really try to be a good driver. I always follow the rules of the road but I could not control this unfortunate event. Everything happened so fast that I really got confused what to do. I am really feeling sorry about this whole thing. I could not work after that incident as it really disturbed me so I came home last night.

So the officer was right. Today I received a ticket in the mail. But, it looks like a parking ticket. Here is what the ticket says.

SFMTA
Notice of Parking Violation

Violation:- Double Parking
Violation Code: V22500H
Fine Amount: $110

So, is it a regular parking ticket? If I pay it, will it somehow affect my driving license? Looking forward to your helpful replies.

Thank you!!!!!

22500(h) isn't a reportable offense (i.e., no points, doesn't show up on your driving record) as near as I can tell.

A PARKING ticket ... well, yeah, that's an easy one to get mailed. It is not associated with your license, it is associated with the vehicle.

This is a highly unusual process for issuing a parking cite, even for SF.

Yeah I am grateful to those officers for letting me get away with a parking ticket. I learnt my lesson, now I am really trying to be focused when picking up and dropping passengers. As I said previously, I follow the traffic laws so strictly specially with signs, lanes, turns and my speed. But, this picking up and dropping people is such a pain. Very stressful job.
