We're in Virginia. My husband won a cruise through his company. Had to use a specific travel agent - company paid for this cruise. Got on the ship Sep 99, never left port, got off the next day due to hurricane. Cruise line refunded $1900 to travel agent with 1/2 off next cruise if booked by 31 Mar 00. We verbally booked for Sep 00, travel agent booked for May 00 - just over $900. Says she called twice for us to pick up tickets - we didn't know anything about May cruise or tickets so we didn't pick up. Called Aug 00 for Sep tickets, she says we missed the boat. Also says husband's company hasn't paid for other people's travel so she won't refund the other $1000 either. $1900 is too much for VA small claims court - is it worth pursuing in higher court or should we take a loss and try for the $1000 in small claims. Do we have any legs to stand on here?
