What is the name of your state? WI
I called the DIP hotline again and they told me that they are no longer giving out DFR status. I've been AWOL since January 4th and would like to take care of this whole thing as soon as possible. Can I report directly to Ft. Sill even if they don't have my DFR packet? (They may, but they won't give me that information). The PFC I spoke with said that I could in fact do that, but he didn't have any information on what exactly would happen if I did that. My understanding is that they send you back to the unit that you went awol from if they don't have your DFR packet. In my case, I left OSUT (BCT & AIT combined) at Ft. Benning. I've been gone for almost 2 months - if they don't have my DFR packet will they still ship me back to Benning even though I've been gone for so long?
If I do decide to travel to Ft. Sill without knowing my DFR status should I hire legal counsel? I was told that this was not necessary if you've already been DFR'ed, but in this case I'm not sure.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm ready to own up to my decision but I just want to do it right.
