I live in the state of Washington. During a recent ice storm a tree on my property snapped in half and landed on my neighbor's shed causing $3300 worth of damage. Should we be contacting my homeowner's insurance or his? Am I liable for this act of God? Thank you.

If the tree was previously healthy, then your neighbor will need to deal with the damages.

However, if the tree was diseased, and you knew about it and didn't do anything, then it may be on you.

He should contact his insurance company.
