Trip&fall on city owned/maintained property

I had a fall on a city sidewalk. The raised portion which I tripped on was unusually high. The fall was witnessed by an on duty Police Officer. What is the time frame allowed to the city to answer and what/how do I go about assessing future damages due to the lack of ability to perform in my profession? Please HELP!!!????

Lack of abilty to perform in your profession? How very vague. Well, may I suggest that if you do indeed have injuries and not just trying to collect $, you take all your medical bills, hire a lawyer and file a claim for negligent maintenance of public sidewalks.

What is the City supposed to answer? Did you file a civil court complaint? What future damages? What is your profession?
