trivia question--sort of--for homework

Any of you out there have any idea approximately how many active laws there are on the books in the United States? Expressed in any form you like...how big a stack would a complete copy make, how many volumes, etc....

If you have a useful answer or a website where I can find it, I'd appreciate

Note: This is not a research paper, to where I need to have a specific answer with documentation to back it up. Nonetheless, I would like to be accurate.

What kind of laws and would such laws include US Federal laws and State laws, what about administrative rulings, Township/City/County ordinances such as building and zoning codes, private laws such as CC&R's or regulations applicable to areas such as Disney World, Native American land, international air, water, land rights affecting homeland and overseas US properties..........
