I live in Iowa. Purchased a truck the end of Feb. this year. At the time, I purchased it from a dealership, it was in the evening and dark out. Didn't realize how bad the tires were on a 2000. One had an acutal hole on the sidewall that they did replace, when I complained about it. Now another tire has gone flat and has a crack in it. I have already about a week ago asked to have them all replaced, and the dealership reply was no. We have a 30 day warranty from the dealership and we bought an extended major guard warranty? Isn't someone responsible for these bad tires? All of them had very bad tread. What, if anything can i do?

"Isn't someone responsible for these bad tires?"
*** Yes. You are. It is apparent that you failed in your required due diligence to perform an inspection of the vehicle. That should have included the tires.

"All of them had very bad tread. What, if anything can i do?"
*** Drive to tire store. Get out credit card. Purchase tires. Drive home.

Well, looks like you were wrong. The dealership called me back after I complained and they are replacing all the tires that are on the truck. I do know a dealership cannot knowingly sell you unsafe tires on a vehicle. But hey, thanks for you wonderful advice anyway!

I am glad that this dealership is going to do this for you.

However, this is a LEGAL forum, and the dealership has NO legal obligation to replace the tires.

The legal principle is called "Caveat Emptor" (Let the buyer beware). As the buyer, you have the obligation to inspect and KNOW what you are buying. This is especially true for such an obvious fault as tire condition.

The dealer doing this for you is called 'good customer relations' and has absolutely NOTHING to do with their legal obligation.

Have a happy day.... and my post stands as correct.

I'm just flat tired of writers who post and ask for advice, then later say a contributor is wrong.

**A: what's up Doc? Your user name alone already makes you look stupid, without any help from us.

Guru,

What kind of site is this? How do you people get by with calling people names? I think this is a site with 12 yr olds answering the questions. This will be the last time you people hear from me. All I have gotten since I have come here are insults. Now you, Guru, are coming right out and calling me stupid. Grow up people and stop the baby name calling! And you are suppose to be intelligent people w/law background??? hmmmm

Daffy, the point is they did not make you look stupid you post and actions did that. They are very smart people and answered you correctly. If the dealership was nice enough to do something for you then it just an act of goodwill on the part of the dealership not something legal that would 'make' them do, or any threats from you. If you purchased the vehicle with out looking at that or wanting a better look then it would fall legally to you if you had already agreed to the purchase. Also warranty does not usually cover tires as you should know.

I understand what everyone has been saying. What I think is, the people who responded to my post should of responded in a more adult way. Not call me stupid. I am an intelligent, working class person and expect to be treated with respect. D Johnson, read above as you can see guru not only made fun of my name but also called me stupid.

Writer, judging by your user name, you must be a black duck with a split personality that is peevish, paranoid and neurotic. Let's face it, you are just a cartoon character. You are looney tunes man.
If you are not a cartoon character, I hope you got permission from Warner Bros. to use that name as it is a registered trademark. Did you search the name with the International Trademark Association? If not, you're not stupid, "you're despicable"
