What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

We hired what we thought was a reputable atty to draw up Family trust and will docs. When we met to go through the docs and sign off there were many mistakes included misspelled names, wrong names, inconsistent use of middle names, initials etc, wrong phone numbers, wrong birthdate for my son etc. We are uncomfortable that the substantive part of the doc is any better. We already paid 50% ($915) and the atty is unwilling to refund any of that money. Should we not be concerned, have him fix the typos and move on or do we have a valid concern and should we seek new advice. How can we recover the fee paid for poor work produced?

Did you sign a fee agreement with him? Is there anything in the agreement about refunds?

Find the website for the State Bar of California and try to see if others have filed complaints against him in the past, and also file one yourself.

Send him a certified letter asking for the changes you want so you will have definitive proof that you contacted him about this and then the ball will be in his court whether he wants to make the changes or not.

You would be better served by firing him and moving on to someone else.
