New Jersey...

When I was a juvenile I was charged with Arson and Criminal Mischief. I was 15 when that happened now I'm 24 and trying to enlist in the armed forces. This is a major misconduct and disqualified me from joining the armed forces. Here is the thing that this incident happened with one two high schools in my town and I saw the disposition and on it said that the board of Ed had the right to vacate charges. What does that mean and if it can help me how can I go about doing so. I did graduate

What does that mean
That means the BOE could have asked that the charges be dropped before you went to trial. You obviously went to trial and were convicted so that point is moot at this time. You need to see a local attorney to see if you are eligible to an expungment of the conviciton.

contrary to popular belief, the military is not hurting for members and can discriminate against those with records. happened to me. also might wanna try all the branches of service. Army and Air Force are more leanient than Marines and Navy when it comes to this type of thing.
