What is the name of your state? Oklahoma

I reserved a ticket to fly from Tulsa to Toronto, with a departure on 2 July 2005, which was today. I showed up to check in, and the lady asked me for my birth certificate which I handed her. I only had a copy because that's what I was told I would need. The lady looked over it and said "this isn't a certified birth certificate, and without a certified birth certificate we can't allow you to fly with us". This was my fifth time flying to Canada from Tulsa International Airport, my third time flying there through Delta. I told the lady I didn't have my original and there was no way I could get it because it was in my Personnel Information File when I was in the military, and they had lost my PIF (Personnel Information File) and would send it to me when they found it. I am no longer in the military, which is why they would send it to me when they found it. I got a little angry with her and talked to her supervisor who said the same thing. I called my ride to ask them to turn around to come pick me up because I wouldn't be able to fly, and the supervisor interrupted me multiple times while I was on my phone. I told my ride I would explain the situation when they arrived and hung up. Again, I was a little angry with the clerks and said "this is bull****" and the supervisor called security on me. Before the security arrived the supervisor said "well now we know why you're not in the military anymore" (refering to my attitude, which has NOTHING to do with why I'm not in the military) and I went outside to wait on my ride, talk to security and smoke a cigarette to try and calm down. While I was talking to one of the four security guards, he mentioned that he has gone to Canada multiple times using Delta without a birth certificate or passport at all, so he went in to talk to the clerks. Upon return he told me "they showed me their policy and becaues of heightened security measures you do have to have a birthcertificate now, but it does NOT say it has to be the original or certified, however, they're not going to let you fly". I went back in and got a refund, went to the next airline down and asked if they had any available flights, which the only one available was with United and it was nearly twice the price I paid for my flight with Delta. So needless to say, I didn't fly anywhere. My question is this: the comment made about me not being in the military anymore, is that slander/defimation/etc? If so, what process should do I need to start to show Delta that I will not tolerate such comments about my personal being. I have already decided that I'm goign to write a letter to Delta's corporate office telling them of this incident and how upset it made me to find out that I *could* fly with a copy of my birthcertificate, but the clerks were NOT going to allow me to fly.

Thank you in advance,
Michael

No, the comment you refer to, while rude, does not meet any of the elements of slander, let alone all of them.

1.) It was not knowingly false or negligent - it was a statement of opinion.
2.) It was not broadcast to an audience - it was said only to you.
3.) You suffered no damages because the statement was made.

My response:

You wrote ALL of that BULL SH!T just to ask us a question about defamation (which you can't even spell correctly)?

Oh, brother. Get some thicker skin, will you? Either that, or grow a penis.

For Christ's SAKE!!
