I am trying desparately to get out of my lease without paying the crazy termination fee. The reason is that there is construction surrounding my apartment. They are building a 20 story hotel, condominiums, office buildings and some kind of museum within about 75 yards of my corner of my apartment complex. The rental company did not show me this apartment before I moved in, they showed me a model and said that my specific apartment couldn't be show as it was being remodeled. They also said that the construction was not a problem and that the windows and sliding glass door were "sound proof". I can assure you the construction is a major issue and the windows and doors are not the least bit sound proof. They are not even double paned. They work all hours of the day and start at 5:00 AM to beat the heat. This is a big deal as well since I work from home and have a hard time hearing people on the phone. I sometimes can't hear myself think.

I have complained, but the landlord has only told me that they can move me to another side of the complex (pretty far away from the construction as my complex is quite large). However, they say that I got a really good special when I moved in and that apartments are now renting for much more. Plus the apartments on that side (closer to the city skyline) are more expensive to begin with.

WHAT CAN I DO TO GET OUT OF THIS NIGHTMARE.What is the name of your state?
