in il/ my husband's grandmother just passed , he has not spoke with his brother who is the excuter of the estate for
several years but, he has had contact with his grandmother
his family(mother & sister)is also not speeking to my husband. he has no way of finding out what his grandmother left him and we have no money for a lawyer . she passed on
sat and they had the house up for sale on monday , changed the locks on the house and took the car . how can we find out what was left for him in the inheritence . she did do a will with a lawyer but she stated that we will have to
go to my husband's family to get his inheritence . we also
do not know who her lawyer is .

Without communicating with the family or retaining or lawyer it may be difficut to get information. You might contact the probate court in the county where his grandmother lived to see if a will has been filed and/or probated. Since the passing was so recent, it is probably not filed yet, though the person holding the will is technically required to file it within 30 days of death. Once it is on file, you can request a copy.
