What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? SC
I was convicted in college (4 years ago) with of possession of marijuana. Does that eliminate me from obtaining my license?

In SC if the applicant for a life ins. license has previously been convicted of a crime, either a misdemeanor or a felony, the following documentation needs to be submitted to the SC Department of Ins.

1)Application for Individual License, Form 3506 [pdf 118k] - http://www.doi.sc.gov/NR/rdonlyres/AF3676E6-7CB2-4840-9728-C2E8BA0971B4/0/ProducerApplication2010.pdf

2)License fee of $25
The fee is not pro-rated and is non-refundable and non-transferable.

3)SLED Report
If the applicant is cleared for license, the South Carolina Department of Insurance will notify the applicant by letter. When the applicant receives the Department's letter, the applicant can proceed with the examination and any other necessary requirements.
