Washington, DC (only U.S. law)?
Hi everyone. I went to a school at American University in Washington, DC and had to leave (advised strongly by school officials to go to the hospital). Tuition this semester was around 20K. I left just after the school's last refund period.
I've written the president of the college and anyone else who would listen at the school and none of them have allowed for any funds to be returned. I left school well before the semester was half-way done and could not attend for medical reasons. I did not receive any credit for these classes and had to re-take some of them at my current institution in Pennsylvania.
So basically, I received no credit for these classes, I could not attend school for medical reasons, and I received no refund.
Is there any way that I could get some or all of this money back somehow? I spent 20k for a full semester but got less than half of an education, and nothing to show for it on paper- because I could not go for medical reasons.
I understand that I left after the refund periods, but is there any course of action I could take. By the way, this was probably 4 years ago now.
