What is the name of your state? Mississippi

I own a small beach front lot in Biloxi MS. I owned a home (free and clear) there before Katrina wiped it out. No insurance. I had tried to obtain insurance on the home when I bought it in 2002, but was denied insurance by every company I contacted or who contacted me (from internet inquiry) due to location...."to close to water". One insurance company stated that if I were established with them for 3 years with auto coverage they could cover me with home insurance.

I want to rebuild. Will I be able to get home owners insurance? What are the options for someone in high risk areas who want to rebuild, but can't getr insurance? Is there any Insurance availability act or laws in Mississippi?

I need insurance.

Thank you

Jane

Good luck to you! I live in an area that got hit really hard both '04 and '05, and when we purchased a house (a week before we got hit in '05... always nice...) no one would insure us (city's on the water, but we're still like 3 miles north of that), AllState, Nationwide, no luck. Statefarm gave us a quote that was just ridiculous... after research (their financial stability and all), and through a Nationwide agent, we got with a FL company that's supposed to be pretty good. Have you checked into the not so known insurance companies? You can research their stability online, and some are actually not bad at all. When you rebuild make sure you do it according to all the current codes - it might make it a little easier to get insurance.
