What is the name of your state? florida

My home was damaged by two hurricanes. We settled on the first withe understanding that we could re-open it at a later date. The second storm did most of the interior damage. The insurance company is not willing to pay any more because they say they cant tell which storm did what damage. We have over 70000 dollars worth of damage with three estimates, they gave us 13000 for the first storm. 5000 of that for the roof. The roof cost over 9000 to replace They wont re open first claim but they want to use it against second claim. We paid two deductables.I think that if we settled first claim that it should not be used against second claim. They are sending out a investigater to re adjust claim. Can we re -open first claim to recover what the roof cost to replace,

We settled on the first withe understanding that we could re-open it at a later date.

What exactly does the written document stating this understanding say?

Governor "Bushy" fixed the problem with having damage deductibles from 2 or more hurricanes. There can only now be one deductible. Last week, the CFO from FL's State Insurance Commissoner's Office has told all insurance companies to settle with insurers within 30 days. The CFO is having town meetings with FL residents and wants to know what insurance companies have not paid insurers claims. Try going to this link to find some more info www.myflorida.com

Hurricane is not a covered peril.

Contrary to what the insurer says; a claim is not closed just because they say it is. A file is not closed until the occurence of one of the following: a denial by the insurer, a waiver by the insured, a settlement agreement between the parties, or the terms of the contract have not been fulfilled by the insured within the prescribed time alloted. Keep in mind that the last item is subject to discussion, particularly where it involves an unsophisticated insured[homeowner].

All that said; Is this a flood claim or a wind claim?

FYI:There is no such thing as a hurricane claim/loss/damage. It is either flood[NFIP] or wind, etc..[Homeowner's] OR, some agreed combination thereof.

The game rules are completely askew from one another.
