What is the name of your state? CA
August 2003 Southern California single car accident (no points, no citation) and DUI in another county. FTA, excusable error, boyfriend killed on same road, funeral/viewing service was the day of the arraignment. Called court, they hadn't received a ticket yet. Told me to wait three weeks. Hired an attorney, paid flat fee (to trial), told him to plead me out. Only received form letters from him. Last fax to him was 'please fax plea/sentencing/probation papers, I'll sign them and get them back to you before your next trip out to...' No answer. I've read some new (not newest) info on that county's penalties and they're lighter than here in Orange. Told him I'd be more successful with a stiff fine, etc. rather than protracted classes. The check for my license cleared last July but the DMV can't find it and suggests I apply for a duplicate. The insurance hike may soon be over as the date of the offense is the date they use. So does the DMV. Where is he? What should I do? By the way, just got mailed a Courtesy Notice, had to call the court to find out it's a red light camera ticket. What now?

CA DUI law. I got a DUI in August of 2003. Hired an attorney. Paid a flat fee to have him handle all up to trial. He has sent only form letters saying I owe him no money. He has appeared for me (filed a notice of appearance). I have not heard from him since December. I called his office in March and faxed him letters asking him to dipose of the case by plea agreement. He has not returned my call(s) nor has he faxed or mailed me any correspondence or plea agreements. What do you suggest I do, short of - surrender - literally - to the court. :(

Q: What do you suggest I do, short of - surrender - literally - to the court.

A: Since you are the one who dropped the ball, then I cannot think of anything else but surrender.
