What is the name of your state? MD

If you go to court and you disagree with the verdict from the judge feeling your parental rights have been violated, what can you do?

My ex gf says that her mother is going to be listed as the legal gaurdian, and she will be the custodial parent (we have not gone to court yet). Can the grandparents be legal gaurdians? Do they do that in case something happens to one of the parents?

The reason I am asking the two questions stated above, is because the lawyer said once the judge states a verdict then it's gospel...

Pretty much your lawyer is right. You can only appeal if there was an error in law/how it was applied - not because you don't like the ruling.

What happened here? Were you in court when this decision came down? Are you the father? Can help with more details....
