What is the formula that Texas uses to determine child support when the father has 2 kids with different mothers? Say the father makes $2758.64 before deductions, how much does he pay each child?

I believe (someone will correct me) that TX uses 17% of gross income for the first child, then 17% of gross income for what is left after paying that first child.

Texas lumps all biological children of an obliger as if they were in the same family. Therefore, support for 2 children born of 2 different families would be calculated as follows (assuming both children are asking the court for child support):

25% of the obliger's NET income (after federal taxes and child's medical premium) would be divided equally between the 2 children.

However, if one of the children actually lives with the obliger, then the other child would get a flat 17.5% of the obliger's net income.

Calculations for this can be found in the Texas Family Code Section 154. Section 154.128 shows a chart which deals specifically with how to calculate child support among children from multiple families.
