My son s a type 1diabetic in the first grade at School in Indiana. His kindergarten year he was forced to urinate in his pants during recess by a school staff member who then made fun of him in front of the other students and then put a diaper on him and made him finish the day without making any attempt to contact us as parents. That employee later lost their job and the school informed us that that kind of behavior would never happen again. We believed them and this year things have gotten a lot worse. It's too late in the year to change schools but, we are becoming fearful of our sons safety and well being. Because He is a type 1 diabetic the school's nurse is responsible for his well being while he is there. She has proven herself incompetent on several occasions. Students have been caught sharing needles while the nurse is on her laptop. The nurse is supposed to check blood sugar levels and administer insulin as needed, not the children. The nurse allows other students to use my sons supplies which can become costly for us. We reported the incident to the school and ever since we have been harassed by the nurses who have called Hospital and the Department of Child Services on us several times. My son has missed a lot of school because of his diabetes and related illnesses and yet he is a straight A student. Every time He misses school the nurses harrass us by calling Hospital which is usually where we are (obviously ) or we have DCS knocking on the door saying they were called by the school nurse, not the dean, social worker, or anyone else who's responsibility that falls under. Today a much larger student physically abused my son right in front of the nurse who not only did nothing but, also failed to report the incident to her superiors as stated in the school's rule book. He is a very bright young boy who used to love school and now he cries every morning because he's picked on, bullied and physically abused by the students and staff at his school. I want to pull him out of that school but, have been told it's too late in the year. Everything keeps getting worse for Him and us every week. We have been verbally threatened by the nurse and her superior on several occasions and the school allows it to go on threatening us not to pull Him out if their school. Please help us

Who told you it was too late in the year?

...DCS knocking on the door saying they were called by the school nurse, not the dean, social worker, or anyone else who's responsibility that falls under.
I'm not trying to lessen your concerns - they seem very valid. I just wanted to point out that it is the nurse's responsibility, legally speaking, to report suspected abuse of a child. Of course, it's illegal for the nurse to give false reports in order to harass you...

I apologize for posting to a week old thread, but if the OP comes back, I hope the following resources will be considered:

As a parent, you can advocate for your son, and the links above can help. Please see the email link at the bottom of the page of the second link.

Good luck
