What is the name of your state? Texas

Can a cheerleading sponsor require girls on the squad to raise specific amounts of money fo the booster club - and if they cannot raise it - make the parents pay the booster club? Can the sponsor keep a child from trying out for captain because her parent paid a booster club fee late? Can the booster club put money in individual students accounts and not use the money for the whole squad?
Thanks for your help!

If this sort of thing works the same in TX as it does in CA, you and your child sign an agreement accepting all these conditions when they sign up for the squad. If the requirements for Captain include paying the Booster Club fee on time, then so be it. And if the by-laws or guidelines for the booster club allow the money to be put in to seperate accounts for each child, so be it. My guess is they do this to more accurately address individual members' needs for transportation and equipment (if this is what the money is used for).

And even if these rules are not written down, how much money are you willing to spend on an attorney to allow your child an opportunity to try out for Captain? And if you push the issue, do you really think she'll win?

The best way to change the rules is to become part of the committee that MAKES the rules. Become involved on the board of directors for the Booster Club, or at least make your presence and opinion known.
